✅ Steps to Build an ADU or Home Addition

Initial Consultation
 

  • Discuss your goals, budget, timeline, and property constraints with a professional. 
  • Site evaluation and feasibility study


 Design & Planning
 

  • Work with an architect or designer to create detailed plans.
  • Decide on layout, style, materials, and utilities.
     

Permit Research & Approval
 

  • Review local zoning regulations, setback rules, and building codes.
  • Submit architectural plans to the city or county for permitting.
  • Address any required revisions from the planning department.


Engineering & Surveying (if needed)
 

  • Structural engineering reports.
  • Property survey or topographic survey for accurate planning.
     

Permit Acquisition

Site Preparation
